Near the end of 2019, I was looking to wean myself off AngularJS (=v1), and I was looking at Angular (>= v2), React and Vue. I was leaning heavily toward Vue until I stumbled on Rich Harris' Rethinking Reactivity video.

Watching that video was an eye-opener. Svelte was organized in a way that matched how I think. Svelte also produced compact assets and had good performance. It had my attention.

Fast forward a couple of years, and I've built a bunch of stuff in Svelte, and now SvelteKit, which is basically Svelte on steroids.

For me, SvelteKit took Svelte to the next level. I had moved from Ruby on Rails to Express, and it was a bit of a chore managing front end and back end code. SvelteKit gives you a front end and a back end. The file based routing on the front end and back end transformed my developer experience. Any time I need to do a proof of concept for an API, my go-to is SvelteKit, since I can produce results very quickly.

As of the end of 2021, Svelte is still one of the smaller web frameworks out there, so finding resources can be a little harder. So this is why I wrote this article, which will be updated regularly.
